One of the things I really like about NC State is that it has majors beyond General Biology. Most other schools (from what I’ve seen) only have General Biology with certain concentrations, but the major itself is still General Biology. NC State has Genetics, Microbiology, Plant Biology, etc. which is one of the reasons why it’s so high on my college list. However, I haven’t heard much about its Life Science program (since State is really know for the Engineering program). Does anyone have any feedback on this program and/or any other facts that would be helpful to know?
I am a currently a freshman in the College of Life Sciences (Biochemistry+Environmental Toxicology). The Life Sciences program is fantastic, and I would recommend it over just doing a general biology program at a competing school. The concentrated major options are why I chose NCSU over WFU and UNC. The specialization helps when applying for jobs in the future, because you are specially trained for the area of your interets. Also, you learn more about what you care about (which to me is the most important part). The professors in the Life Sciences are passionate about teaching, which is hard to come by at some schools. If you’re thinking about Life Sciences, COME TO STATE! And I promise, State is known for our sciences. If you have any questions, please message me! I’m happy to answer them.
