How Good is the Molecular Bio Major at Princeton?

How good is it?

I was interested in that as well. Anyone?

Molec Bio.? Princeton? Are you guys kidding? I would rather settle for Einstein or even Stanford (though Berkley is just as good)

Hey, I'm interested in Molecular Biology, too, although I ended up applying as a history major. Princeton is an awesome place if Molecular Bio is what interests you. Not only is their department among the top few in the country, but also Princeton is home to the Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics. Unlike at most schools, where graduate and research programs are mostly removed from undergraduate studies, at Princeton the Genomics Institute plays an active role in educating undergrads by offering courses and providing research opportunities to molbio students. The department and the genomics institute's websites are both very helpful and can be found through Princeton's website. Also, I'd like to add that Princeton's president, Shirley Tilghman, is an accomplished molecular biologist and in addition to her functions as president she teaches MolBio courses at Princeton. I hear that she has paid special attention to the department to help strengthen it.

It certainly is a very popular major. All majors get a stipend to do research on campus during the junior summer. It is known as a very challenging department but there seems to be great esprit de corps. I don't know whether you have visited the site: http://www.molbio.princeton.edu/undergrad.php
