I realize UMass Amherst is the best out of 4, but does UMass Boston come after Amherst?
I really wanna go to the Boston area and I wanna know if it's a good place to go. It's not as competitive as Amherst so I'm hoping I get accepted. What are the advantages/good things about UMass Boston? and disadvantages/bad things? I know that the dorms are off campus.

UMass Boston is really more of a night/commuter school. I believe it goes Amherst, Dartmouth, Lowell, Boston. There are no dorms, it is equated many times to a more expensive community college.

I have only been to UMass Boston’s campus only twice in my life, but it always struck me how much it looks like an airport.

In my opinion, UMass Boston is only worth it if you live in the Boston area, want something more upscale than a community college for about the same price (for Massachusetts residents, tuition is only about $5,300 a year), and plan to commute to school from home. A lot of people in my old high school went to UMass Boston for these reasons.

It’s not a bad school by any means, however. But, if you are looking for grassy quads, frat houses, and a football team - you will be disappointed.

really? wow
i thought boston was behind amherst
but i’ll definitely apply to dartmouth now

Yeah Dartmouth is definitely more of a real college experience, and it’s not as selective. I have a friend there and she likes it a lot!

Don’t forget Lowell either; it has a great engineering program.
