<p>UR has a high opinion of itself. So much so that it substantially raised tuition a few years back (double digit, as I recall) with the justification of ‘that’s what our peers charge.’ This left UR with one of the highest tuition rates on the Eastern seaboard outside of the Ivy League. Quite controversial at the time.</p>
<p>^ still controversial to many of us alums LW. Former President Cooper’s agenda really put the university out of reach to many middle to upper middle class kids. They claim that the FA meets 100% need, but from what I have heard through parents of kids that apply is they bring it down to the right above or at the family’s EFC (which we all know is usually way higher than what the family can really afford) by throwing in student loans and/work study. Not manageable and not an option for many who would like to go there.</p>
<p>My alma mater, Wake Forest, is a peer institution. They did it too.</p>
