This last season, I did hear of one strange Purdue award that I found shocking.
The OOS student had an ACT 28 and was given a generous merit award. This was from Purdue, not a department. The student was Undeclared major.
The parent was upset that other schools weren’t giving as much. She contacted me during their Alabama visit. She was upset that her DD loved Bama and wanted to attend, but Bama wasn’t going to give her child much.
I couldn’t figure out why Purdue gave her so much. I didn’t think to ask if one of the parents was a Purdue alum. They were IL residents, so possible that one had been a Purdue grad.
If the award was alumni-related, then the school should mention that in their award, otherwise a parent is going to be scratching their head wondering why other schools are being “cheap.”
I wonder if any Purdue alums on CC can shed some light on this?
