How greatly do SAT IIs affect admissions?

Hey there CC,

I'm a senior who's planning to apply to several to schools this December. Among these schools are MIT, Cornell, CMU, and Princeton. Next week, I'm burning away another few hours of my life taking the SAT IIs (Math II and Physics), and I had some concerns. Based on the practice tests I've taken, I feel pretty set for Physics (thank goodness for that curve!), but I'm not as confident for Math II. The practice book I have (the latest version of Kaplan's) is a little bit more challenging than I thought it would be, and I've been scoring around 710-720 on each round.

So, here's my concern. How greatly do SAT scores affect admissions to the schools to which I'm applying? Are they heavily weighted, or are they simply a requirement? I'm applying into engineering, so the other Math subject test scores I'll be competing against will likely be much higher than mine. Thanks so much!

Thread resolved. Thanks CC.

The Answer: just don’t use Kaplan prep books. Hahaha. I went to the store and got the book of official released practice exams and I got an 800 easily. So hopefully the question shall no longer be pertinent to me :D. Have a great day ya’ll.
