How hard are the classes at Georgetown in General?

bump........

what does "bump" mean???

like you bump it up back to the top.

gracias, matm1 :D

I sat in on a Philosophy course at Harvard for half this semester and handed in a paper just to see how I'd do...

Got a B on the first part...and A- on the second part...overall it said "High B+ 89/90%"

I'd say I'm smart, but far far from a genious. If I can get a B+ at Harvard, than I'm sure that the types that get into Georgetown would have no trouble excelling at whatever they put their minds to :)

genious? haha...genius mate....spelling check

Harvard's known for grade inflation, Georgetown isn't. Just a sidenote.

Stop showing off

How was I showing off?

I'm simply saying that alot of the kids a G'Town are smarter than I am and if I can do good in a class at an elite school than I'm sure they can as well.

Man, I swear some of you are just very bitter people who come here either to escape your real life, or to find a life. My lord!!! Its safe son...I was only trying to help

Guys, What the hell? We are all college students and should be well past resorting to name calling! I don't think the guy from Harvard (who took classes there at least) said anything arrogant. Please refrain from sullying this message board. It is not worth it. There is so much that we can learn from each other from these boards! Name calling will get us nowhere!

Brenner87, YOu have no proof whatsoever that he is lying. Many schools allow students to audit. I am offended that you would have the audacity to make such accusations. Please find a way to occupy your time better than picking on people on the internet.

These people were either rejected by Harvard or have no worthwhile social existance...

These are the only motives I think they could have for being so hostile...their bitterness is just a symptom of a much more sinister complex.

Yes you guys, Harvard is for dolts, its easy and there is no way on god's green earth that you can take a class there without being enrolled. It is a physical impossibility!!!

I really don't have the time to play with you guys. But Matm1, hit my PM up if you have any questions

So then you go to Harvard? And you're transferring to Georgetown?

Nah I have a friend that goes to Harvard...

I just sat in on a class with her for half a semester because I wanted to see how I'd fair with the best-of-the-best. I did the midterm essay, handed it in, and had it returned to me with a grade. Of course when I got the paper back the professor pulled me aside and told me to check with my advisor because he didn't have my name on the registrars sheet...

Brenner87, your post contains many flaws. Why do you feel the need to attack faceless people on the internet while hiding behind a computer? Do you find this type of behavior to be appropriate? Substaniate your claim that I am unwelcome here! You and I both know that your post has no legitamacy. It is angry and meaningless rambling. What did you hope to accomplish? All you have done is discredited yourself on this board.

this post is digressing...

I've heard that Gtown doesn't have grade inflation, and some professors only give out a certain number of As. I mean it's expected for a prestigious uni to have hard classes, but still a bit daunting.

What about competition, or curving?

cough Econ cough The Econ department curve is vicious, from what I've heard (only top 25% get As)

Curves aren't as bad as they sound. I took some college classes this year (not at Georgetown), and had one bio class where only the top 25% got A's, the second 25% got B's, and so on. It sounded like the curve was going to suck, but it actually ended up working in almost everyone's favor. I never got higher than a B+ on anything, sometimes a lot lower than that, but still ended up with an A for my final grade.

At least from the college classes I took, as long as you read what is assigned and do the homework, etc., you will end up with an A or B, especially in classes where there is a scale or curve. But that's just my experience.

Econ curve tends to help you more than anything, curves are usually going to work in your favor. That's my experience from taking both micro and macro this year.
