how hard are the exams at upenn?

for freshmen year classes (the sciences) do people typically get test scores in the 80s?50s? lower?
and are the tests like fair (based on the stuff you learned)

sure there are plenty of tests where lowest scorers are in the 10s, 20s

but i’m sure you realize that in college, you don’t necessarily need a 90 to get an A, 80 for B, etc.

fair is a relative assessment =p

i thought so, though

I felt like almost all of my exams were fair. I wasn’t too happy with my Chem 102 exams because I felt we didn’t have enough time (no one did) but the prof got fired after that so it all evened out. While I haven’t always been thrilled with my scores, in retrospect, most of my classes have had pretty fair exams.

and im guessign exam grades make up the majority of your grade at upenn?

For science, math and engineering, yes. For humanities essays can make up all of your grade.

jake, are you a freshman or a high school student? If you’re still in high school I wouldnt concern myself with grading at Penn until you are signing up for classes here.

im a rising sneior
im just trying to figure out what im getting myself into if i truly decide to do early decision since its a commitment

anythign else i should know?

If you’re smart enough to be admitted to Penn you should learn to work hard enough to succeed in your classes. Don’t worry about it. Most people here are either smart enough to succeed or rich enough to provide us with nice facilities.
