I’m currently in engineering but I wish to transfer to ross. This semester I took physics 140/141 Econ 101 and Engr 101 l. I didn’t find any of these courses to be hard, and will most likely end up with a 4.0. Next semester I’d like to take Econ 102, but that would mean my schedule would be Econ 102, math 116, English 125, and Engr 100. Will this be too hard? I’m also planning on doing winter rush for a social frat so I’m worried I won’t be able to do these classes based on how hard I’ve heard they are. Will calc 2 be easier in the winter because the people taking it will be those that were placed into calc 1?
Engr 100’s difficulty will depend on which section you take; 500 (biomed) and 700 (aerospace) are arguably the most time-consuming courses a freshman can take. With that said, it is not difficult to get an A if you put in the effort. Other sections are relatively straightforward.
I doubt that calc 2’s difficulty will change at all–although the curve might be marginally more generous, the course itself is still going to be a pain. It still won’t consume too much time.
I think that if you budget your time, you should be fine.
Math 116 and its curve will be exactly the same in the Spring as in the Fall.
But many students have been able to handle this schedule plus one or two extracurriculars.
Your challenge is that you need high grades, that Eng 100 will be time consuming and difficult to get a aB-/B in (which in turn will affect your GPA for Ross), and that you can’t just “handle” those classes but you have to be, roughly, in the top 25% in each in order to make it to Ross. That’s already pretty tough. Add to this rushing and you’ve got a problem.
So, the biggest problem isn’t your schedule - it will be combining high grades in each class of that schedule and rushing.
I doubt many pledges are trying to do this, so they know their GPA will take a hit and perhaps they’ve even taken a lighter schedule just because of rushing.
Is there any way you can defer rush till you’ve been admitted to Ross? Because it will wreck havoc with your study time, your sleep time, your free time, and essentially your semester’s GPA will be shot no matter how well you’re doing now, because you won’t have the material time to do enough (and to be rested enough) to do well.
Essentially, if you had to chose between rushing and Ross, what would you choose?
Hard to get a b/b- in 100? I’ve heard that 100 is the easiest course to get an A in as long as you don’t take biomed or aero.
Any idea how 101 compares to 102 and physics 140 to calc2 in terms of work time and grade difficulty? Because I spend a small amount of time on my classes now.
