How hard is acceptance for OOS?

I have a 4.43 gpa, 1310/1850 sat, field commander of 360 member marching band, class rank #18/700, 100 hours community service in hospital ER, Church leadership, Beta club, NHS, President of German club, state officer of Florida Association of Students of German, went on the German American Partnership Program foreign exchange, 11 ap classes taken, ap scholar with distinction.

Everyone has been telling Me i will get into UF, but i'm also freaking out because so far i've been denied by UNC and UVA. Will Maryland deny me too?

any feedback is appreciated. Fear the turtle!

Very impressive, 18/700. I think you’re definitely in! And UF too… No worries! Would you chance me as well? I have a thread going already :)

You have amazing credentials, however Maryland prioritizes in-state so greatly that very few OOS students get in. You seem to have everything needed to get accepted, but will the amount of in-state students applying get in your way. ANYWAY you have a chance. GOOD LUCK!

very nice GPA, i think you’re in for sure

Def in, i’m in the “rejected from uva” club as well! ha

@Nc7777 I think you’ll get into Maryland. Would you chance me too? Anyone…please?

OOS
UW GPA 3.7
W GPA is higher but I’m not sure what it is
SAT 2080 (1280)
CR: 570 :frowning:
M: 710
W: 800 (do they really not look at/see this at all!?)
ACT 29

Lots of EC’s
And good letters of recommendations

If it makes you feel any better, it is statistically harder to get an 800 in W section than any other section. However, UMD does not look at that section for decisions. I don’t think it will hurt you at other colleges. I think you will be one of those that is truely on the fence when it comes decision time. You are from NJ which is not a good thing since so many apply from NJ. Your 2080 is enough of a score but the break down is not good. Had you gotten a 670 cr 710m and 700w you would have been admitted without a thought. 100 points more on the cr and 100 less on the w section and you would have been fine. Even 50 points on the cr would have helped. If you were from MD, you would get in with a 1280 but it may not have been certain LEPs.

Not sure what major you plan to take, but you will do fine with math and will not have any problems with writing papers. Good luck.

In 2010 one out of every three freshmen were OOS. I think the odds are great.
