How hard is AP Bio?

Which is harder...AP Physics or AP Bio?

Yes, AP Bio is a lot of memorization. My class finishes a chapter every 3 days (with the test on the 3rd day). Each chapter has about 15-18 sections, so the homework load is heavy, especially since my teacher requires us to take notes and jot down unanswered questions, which is a good way of making us think about the material. After taking chemistry last year, I thought (out of passion) that I would hate science forever, but I find myself actually liking biology. It's my favorite class this year, even though I'm more of a humanities person. My teacher is precise, meticulous, and demanding, but I prefer that to my non-structured science class last year. She also gives entertaining lectures, in my opinion-- they're really quite funny. Those help keep me awake in the morning, especially since AP Bio is a double-period class at my school, and I have it first period at 7. The rest of the class is not as entertained though. We're going on our first field trip tomorrow!

It depends...

AP physics is probably harder because theres more math logic and formulas then AP biology...

AP biology is mostly based on studying and patience..

I am behind my class like 1/2 a chapter.. But I'm not going to give up..

Yeh, AP classes are GPA decreaser and the "dice on the poker-table"
If people screw in AP classes, they're basically gambling their life away!

wow...I take back my previous post. We just got our new books (Campbell) and it does look like its going to be a hard year after all because there is soooo much material to cover.

Oh well...it was nice for those first couple days :)

I took AP Bio last year and it was one of the best experiences i've had. Yeah it was a ridiculous courseload, but we only had to study for tests, no homework. Out of a class of about 45 we had 6 4s and 39 5s. We finished a chapter every 1-2 days with half of the second day to talk about whatever. It is a great experience and really streches your thinking skills. Definatly take it!

Typical overachieving highschooler thinking...

johnny1010220, what were the bio SATII scores in your AP bio class?

Hey! We're using the same book too =)

Do you take SAT II Bio as well when you take AP Bio exam?

"Which is harder...AP Physics or AP Bio?"
I would have to say ap physics. you can get away with not understanding anything in ap bio. I mean its pure memorization. I didn't understand anything in ap bio and i still got a 5 on the ap test. (i think there is a really big curve on the test). In ap physics you have to get the big picture in order to do the problems. Thats why i like bio better than physics. but i think ap physics is less time consuming than ap bio. you read a lot in ap bio (i used the campell book which was like 30 pages per chapter).

The scores I have heard were anywhere from 690-800. Many people got 800s. I feel that my 740 was a big let down.

Johnny, what percentiles was your 740? That's what you should be worried about.

i got a 680 on the sat II bio and a 4 on the exam.

I made a five on the exam and a 760 on the SAT II: E. My score was in the 97th percentile.

it's not really hard, i found it to be mostly memorization.

that class is a joke at my school, i feel bad i decided not to take it. it would have looked good on my college apps.

Freshman year I took the SAT II after Bio Honors and got an 800 (with intense independent studying).

Sophomore year I took the AP exam (without the class) with literally no more than about five hours of review and got a 5, thanks to my hardcore SAT II prep.

Junior year I'm taking the AP class.

Wait... I'm doing things in reverse order aren't I.
