I have to turn in my schedule for my senior year in a couple of weeks..and i'm not sure what science class I should sign up for...how hard is ap physics b?? I'm going to be in pre-calc next year (horrible at math) so i'm not sure if i should took ap physics or just regular...if i take regular physics.. i'm only going to have 2 AP classes (AP Lit and AP Gov/Econ) if I take regular phyics. Do you think 2 AP classes would be enough for my senior year? (Out of 5 classes).
Thanks :}

bumpppppp!?

I am taking AP Physics, it is not hard per se, but I have been getting not so good grades in that class. It is all algebra and trig concepts, so you are good on that part… Just do your homework and understand the concepts and know how to derive the equation. Don’t just memorize them…

Is the math hard at all?

Alright thanks! Yeah so AP Physics B ISN’T calc based right?
Idk one of my friends is in the class right now, and she said the math is confusing at first, but it get’s easier if you just keep solving practice problems…haha. Whatever, i’m just going to take it for the hell of it.

Correct! Thank god…I hate calculus and I will have to take calc bc next year but I’m not the best at calc. cool.

I’m taking AP physics just because we don’t have honors and I don’t want to take regular with the slackers haha. We can help each other if needed next year!

ONE WORD OF WARNING:

Do your homework. Do not be like me trying to put all the equations in my calculator trying to just use it on the fly. Half the time, I forget which variable is which. It is not good.

Yeah! I’m pretty sure i’m going to be really lost…haha…but we can help each other, lol.

I’ll keep that in mind…the same thing has been happening to me in AP Bio…I try to cram all the info the day before the test…not good

Thanks davidthefat.

If you’ve never taken phys before, it can be challenging. But once you get into it, it gets much easier, and with a little practice, it’s pretty easy to tell which equations to use. Anyways, you’ll pretty much have them memorized from repetative usage. However, ap b does cover E&M, a topic that is quite challening for most people, myself included.

It was really challenging for me since I took it as a sophomore. It’s moderately hard from what my friends say, but as davidthefat said, you HAVE TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK.

On a scale of 1-10…what would you guys rate this class as? (10 being the hardest) lol.

@jesskidding: hey I also took it sophomore year :D, it was probably my hardest class that year. But now, AP Phys C Mech is a joke since Phys B already covered like 80% of the stuff and it’s easy to grasp the other stuff.

Anyways, I agree that actually doing the homework would make a big difference.
Doing HW: 7-8 initially and then probably 3-4
Not Doing HW: 7 all the way through.

Only like two people in my class last year got 5’s. We did have a pretty large amount of 4’s though. Of course, everyone who got 4’s were hella slackers… e.g. myself.

A 4 is more than fine with me! Haha I doubt it will be of use to me as I want to be an econ/finance type major

Hey ghuskies, I’m just curious, what part of Washington are you from (I’m assuming you live in Washington)? I’m from Bellevue.

I live like 30 minutes from Portland! I’m in love with Seattle, wish I lived up north. Are you going to college next year? UW??

Well I’m a junior right now, but yeah, I’ll probably apply to UW, though it’s not my first choice right now.

Oh cool! It’s my first choice but if I get a scholarship to another school, preferably in CA I’d go there.
Whats your top?
