How hard is BioMedical Engineering at Duke?

I'm also thinking of a minor in Computer Science as well...I have no intention to go into the medical field btw.

Biomedical engineering/bioengineering anywhere is going to be very tough. When I visited Duke during Blue Devil Days last year, I was told it was one of the most rigorous majors. At Rice, bioengineering is also the most rigorous major. Hopefully, a biomedical engineering student can answer your question with more specificity.

It is one of the more rigorous majors, but there isn’t a class at Duke with below B- average. It is difficult to do well (A or above) because of the competition, but it is also incredibly difficult to fail (below C).

^How difficult would you think a major in Biomed and a minor in Comp Sci be?

While BME is tough, you can do with with a minor (or even a another major) with some planning and work. It’ll be tough, but with only a minor, it won’t be too bad. Duke allows a large amount of flexibility with their engineers’ schedules, so even double majoring with BME isn’t too bad. Be prepared to work harder than you probably did in high school, but I know others who came out perfectly fine in the end. (A BME and ECE major can graduate in four years with premed requirements with some summer school, so I’m positive a BME and Comp Sci minor can do perfectly fine too without having to overload or do summer school. You can probably still study abroad a semester too.)
