<p>Hmm I don't think general education bio is too intense. From what I hear, the work is not hard, but rather annoying. One of my friends had to attend ~5 hours worth of lectures + labs per week. I think there is also a fair share of writing involved, but i don't think the writing assignments require a lot of thinking. I think it's best to anticipate some tedious work, but nothing all that challenging.</p>
<p>I think in general, core bio and topics bio courses are not that intense, nor should they be.</p>
