Hey everybody im and '09er and I'm just wondering what's I'm in store for as far as academic rigor. I'm an econ major. What is considered a good GPA at Dmouth? Do any classes use grading curves? In general, is it difficult to get A's?

Thanks, Joe

It obviously depends on the person. I have friends that I could name right now who do very little studying and seem to slaughter me when it comes to grades every time. Econ is a difficult major (I'm an econ major)- but it's not so bad when you get into the upper level courses (or so I hear). Sybbie gave you the page for median grades, yes- but I would warn that these median grades are being achieved by some very intelligent people- meaning, when you see a median grade of B+, it means something very different than a B+ and many other schools. Courses here are obviously geared toward high-caliber students. But...I came from a very easy high school where I slid by doing nothing, and I'm surviving.

Good GPA for Dartmouth? The average is like a 3.4.....my goal is to get like a 3.7, but um.....well we'll just laugh for now and pretend that is what I have, lol.

apppro,

All the best on your finals.

I am hoping that you and my D get a 3.7 too :)
