How hard is Double Majoring at UCSC

Prospective freshman. I was wondering how difficult it would be for me to double major in environmental studies and politics (or legal studies). I want to go into environmental policy making/advising, so double majoring in environmental studies + the politics/law behind it may be ideal when looking for a job. I know that the environmental studies majors offers a “focus on environmental policy” but I was wondering if double majoring is a better idea.

Not hard at all, especially for majors without laboratories. Most students do at least a major and a minor; I had a friend who completed all the GEs + requirements for Business Econ and wound up without enough credits to graduate. She had to spend a couple quarters taking random classes just to earn more credits.

@Bryce145: Not sure if you looked further into the Environmental Studies program but there is an option for Environmental Policy and Political Economy already without having to double major. You can also do a combined program with Economics.

The four majors in Environmental Studies are:

  1. Single Major with 5 focus areas. ( Foci in: Agroecology & Sustainable Agriculture; Conservation Science & Natural History; Environmental Education & Sustainability; Environmental Policy; Political Economy. Here is the link to the five informal foci in the ENVS single major:
  2. Combined with Biology
  3. Combined with Economics
  4. Combined with Earth Sciences
