Don’t retake Econ 1.

Econ 100A and 100B (Microecon and Macroecon) go over everything from Econ 1 that you need to know anyway. And if you got 5s on both tests, you are definitely prepared enough for 100A/B. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean you would get an easy A in Econ 1.

totalcaprice: 2 finals in 1 day? EVERYONE has that. I had 3 in one day both semesters this year. It sucked and I complained about it constantly, but it’s pretty doable and doesn’t hurt your grade. Take Econ 1 Fall and UGBA Spring.

Yeah, I’m scared about lowering my GPA needlessly (which is why I said that I need an A/A+ if I want it to pay off). I had a pretty good ap econ teacher, but that was during my junior year so I may have forgotten some stuff.

To all econ majors: Is it necessary to take econ 1 in order to do well in later econ classes? Or can I just review on my own and do just as well without risking my GPA by taking the class? Maybe I can just sit in lecture without taking the actual class… haha

Edit: @flutterfly
I actually have the option of taking the 101 series instead because I have community college calculus credit.
The reason I’m thinking about it is that courserank says 101A and 101B have MUCH better grade distributions. Do you know if the classes are harder? And do you recommend that I take them?
By the way, thank you so much for the info!!

I’m currently hoping for Chinese, Math 16B, Sociology 1, and History 6A, so if i kicked off Chinese for Econ, would that be doable? I’m just worried that I won’t do well, so I wanted a easy schedule.

I already phased I Sociology/Math 16B, so which do you recommend that I drop? Math 16B 223/429 full, or sociology 126/320 full? Thanks a lot for the advice!

@Handlebars: sorry for hogging your thread >_>

@total: Your schedule has one big flaw. You said you were planning on doing Econ/Business. Yet you don’t have one single class for either of those major (besides math). If you were FPF, like I was, then sure that’s a good schedule (there’s no econ 1/ugba10 at FPF). However, there is on the main campus. I would definitely find a way to get either one of those classes there.
