I’m seriously considering engineering and film arts at USC, but I’m a little scared on how hard engineering can be. Is majoring engineering really that hard and what will I expect
It’s adequately hard but far from impossible, and you should expect to have to work to achieve results. Tougher than most, but not unreasonably so.
The traditional engineering disciplines (can’t speak about Industrial or Environmental) are very math-intensive. You will study math up to Differential Equations, and possibly courses dedicated to Linear Algebra and Statistics. You will also be required to enroll in a numerical analysis course at many engineering schools. Math and Physics is the foundation. The curriculum is very hard but with diligence and hard work, you can succeed. The colleges want you to succeed.
“can’t speak about Industrial” As has been noted before in other engineering threads , Industrial engineers have to take the same math and physics, chemistry, etc. as any engineer does. Linear algebra, vector geometry, calculus, differential equations, statistics, etc. You can find a typical curriculum here. http://www.ise.vt.edu/
^^^The same is true for environmental.
