Ok I have already been admitted to the Ohio State University. However I was not able to get into the Biz major. I want to go to OSU but im worried that if i go i wont be able to internally transfer to the Fisher school of biz.
How hard is it to get into.
I know getting into the pre business major is at the end of 1 quarter with a 3.0. guaranteed admission. what about major candidacy?
Has anyoen gone through that change that can help me?

Ive been offered admission already to Michigan State’s Eli Broad School, Purdue’s Kraennart School of Management but i getting cold feet of going there cuz i love OSU :D.

I need advice. Is it hard to transfer into Fisher or the requirements of going from pre business to business really hard?

okay, so the odds are not good. at all. An OSU business major spoke with my S and said "If you have a 3.0 gpa at the end of 1st year, you're in, but if you have a 3.5 gpa, then you're golden dude". What the heck!!!

[quote]
4586 freshmen (admitted and denied) sought full-time admission to the business program for the 2005-2006 academic year.
53% of these applicants were admitted to the program and 63% of admitted students enrolled.
475 internal candidates (admitted and denied) sought full-time admission to the business program for the 2005-2006 academic year. 69 were admitted to the program.

Perhaps it has been wrongly worded. So if 1531 freshmen enrolled, (63% of the 53% who were admitted) obviously most of them also had to apply for full-time Business status the following year. And the 475 internal transfers are from other colleges in OSU???

That would make more sense in a school with 4700+ full time students. Even if there were 5th and 6th year Undergrads in that mix. Taking 69/yr would make it a teeny school. OSU is biggie big.

According to a mailing I got about a month ago entitled BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION PROGRAM ADMISSION CRITERIA

Requirements for application with a GPA of less than 3.0
1. Minimum competitive GPA (subject to change each application period)
2. Completion of English 110 or equivalent, Econ 200 and 201, Accounting & MIS 211 and 212 and Computer Science and Engineeting 200 or equivalent with grades of C- or better.
3. Completion of Math 132 or 152 or equivalents and prerequisites with grades of C- or better.

AND THEN THERES A DOUBLE ASTERIX

** Please Note: Based on current enrollments it is not anticipated that students willbe admited for spring quarter 2007 and forward with less than a 3.0 GPA.

And then there's the Sanity Clause (Marx Brother's fans will smile)

Seems that no large public U is going to let you into their Business program without a 3.0 or above.

In the final 6 weeks I'm down to Indiana and OSU.

Pre-major at OSU. I have low scheduling priority and I can't apply to Fisher until I have a bunch of pre-reqs and a certain GPA. Hello 6 years in Columbus.

Direct Admit to Kelley at IU. I still need the 3.0 to continue each year. To do this I have to get by a prof in Accounting who plays a giant Wack-A-Mole game with freshman by purposely flunking over half the class. And they don't let anyone else teach the course and there's no way you move on unless take his course. Oh, and it's no longer in the Business Week top 10.

I couldn't find it on the link. I can't remember where I got that impression. Maybe it's a 3.0 to keep the scholarships.

I visited OSU. Fisher is amazing. There's something called Fisher Ink. that does advising and helps you with internships/carrier services. The student's seemed happy there. Only Honors freshman get direct admit. The Scholars program doesn't bump up your chances for getting into Fisher (except if you keep the scholars GPA you should be fine)
IU is later this month. If there's no minimum GPA for Directs to stay in that might be a swing factor. I shouldn't be so cynical but there has to be a catch.

OK. If you get into Fisher as a pre-major, you are in Fisher. You are in the business school.

Fisher has 14 specializations. Finance, accounting, and 12 more.

Some specializations are restricted. If you are a pre-major, there are 4 concentrations that are restricted right now and this changes every quarter.

Right now, accounting, international business and finance you need a 3.10 gpa to get in. Human Resources you need a 3.25 gpa.

The other 10 are open. No gpa requirement if you are a premajor. This can change.

So if you have a gpa below 3.0 and you are a pre-major in Fisher, you don't get kicked out.

There is an advantage in being a pre-major. If you aren't directly admitted into Fisher as a freshman and you are not a pre-major, you need a 3.0 gpa to get into Fisher.
