im going to be a senior after summer and im really interested in going to nyu stern for college. but i heard its really hard?can some1 tell me a lil abt it?

It's much easier than getting into Wharton or MIT's Sloan. It's one of the easier business schools to get into. An NYU college rep told me that the acceptance rate was about 22% (but remember, not as many people apply as they do to the other NYU colleges/also the number is very vague in my memory so don't quote me on this!). My friend got into Stern with a 2000 SAT and as an international, but then again he had some amazing internships in China... so...

thank you cafesimone, cuz im also an international taiwanese student in china, ur words gave me some confidence.

Not easy at all, but much much easier than Wharton.

Note that NYU is extremely stingy with financial aid if you are looking for aid.

Acceptance rate this year was 10-14% I forget what it was exactly...

^ I think I was told it was 14%. Don't know if that was RD, or RD + ED (Seems like it'd be just for RD).

It's hard to say how hard it is- it's probably not as easy as you think and harder than you hoped for. Stern has some sort of unique fascination with Asians (I swear), because it seems that at least half the class there must be Asian every single year.

^^Lol. It may be because a large number of the people who apply are Asians.

24% acceptance. Check out this CC thread and the link in the first post.

If you are an international student who needs $$ it will be very hard to get in to as NYU is known for not having good financial aid and they are not need blind to any one (citizens or international students)

24% for the university as a whole.

Yeah, but they also offer many merit scholarships.

lol my top choice is UPenn but I know I will never reach it. now I may turn to NYU or UMich or UChicago. What's the chance to get into each of those schools if I'm Asian too ??? but my SAT is not good though :( and not many ECs so I'm desperately disappointed.

True!! So many of my Asian friends got into NYU...except I think it's because they pay the full tuition... Wintson, just to clarify my international friend wasn't from China and didn't live there... so it was an abroad internship which made it amazing :(

Why the "if I'm Asian"? That definitely won't be the key factor in determining your chances. And those schools will look for different things. UMich is the least selective of the 3 though.

No, NYU is need-blind.

That's not true... Barbara Hall states here that their admissions are need-blind.

Someone told me you cant make it as an I banker unless you go to Wharton? Is this true

AHAH This made me laugh. Is that a joke? If you're worried about that, please get rid of this ridiculous idea. You can definitely go to a top 15 B school and make it as an investment banker, I know of several people making it big in I banking having graduated from NYU Stern, UVA, UNC Kenan- Flagler, UMich Ann Arbor...

i dont even want to be an I banker I was just curious

HA ok, I'm sorry I didn't mean to come off as rude but some people just feed the worst information to people.

no worries
