How hard is it for an engineering student to have a life?

I am a hard worker but I don't like to spend my ENTIRE life studying. Is it possible for an engineering student to have a good GPA and still you know, enjoy life?

It’s very possible. My D’s good friend was a cheerleader (practice every day) and member of a dance troupe(practice 3-5 days a week). She was also a partier and was regularly involved in the various themed parties that were held.

Heck, my D’s bfriend is getting his PhD in engineering at Cornell and he seems to have flexible time. He and D just took a trip out west together and he is currently in NYC w/ her. (That is where she is living now and starting a job on Tues.)

You can definitely have a life.

Yes but its a question of discipline. If you efficiently and consistently use your downtime after classes, sunday mornings, etc. to study, then it’ll be easy.

It’s all about balance. There are a few engineering guys in my frat and most have very high gpas while managing to party every weekend and even during the week.

it isn’t hard.

I’m not an engineer, but 3 of my close friends are: both the guys are in frats, and the girl is in a sorority. All of them go out at least 3-4 nights a week, do club sports, and have above 3.5 GPAs. Definitely possible-- it’s all about discipline and time management (which honestly goes for any major at Cornell).
