How hard is it for transfer students to make friends?

I'm a student at a community college who's trying to decide what school to transfer to. I visited UCLA today and fell in love with campus and surrounding area. I am wondering how hard it is to make friends, assuming I'm not really that into the whole frat scene.

Also, how difficult is it to get close to a 4.0 in psychology if one is willing to work hard?

Thanks in advance!

not hard at all to make friends as a transfer student. you’ll start off like a freshmen (being new to the campus and all) and make friends with other similar students (in your case, other transfer students).

then you’ll begin to make friends with others in your classes

good luck!

Okay thats good to hear! Thanks for replying. Anyone have anything more to add?

As long as you make it a point to get out to organizations, call up people, etc, you will have friends. It’s not that hard, but its not a automatic as I hear is the case with living in the dorms. A lot of making friends depends on you. The friend are out there, you just have to be proactive and chase them.

I’m a transfer and, like you, I am not into the frat scene.

If you’re going to dorm, you’ll most likely be living with other transfers on your floor. I’m a sophomore, but everyone on my floor this year is a junior-transfer and they all seem to get along with each other. However, you’ll probably find your niche when you join clubs or other organizations. Likewise, it’ll just be as if you were a freshman that’s all. Must transfers I know transitioned pretty smoothly by the end of the fall quarter.

Great! Thanks so much guys! You’ve really alleviated a lot of my fears.
