its getting to be "show time" for applications and I need to get serious about my plan of attack for ED vs. EA vs RD for all the universities.
In general terms I have seen how competitive each University can be .... but I would like one more layer. for example within Cornell is the college of Engineering harder to get into when compared to Arts & Science. and if it is then do you guys have a sense for how much harder.

Statistically, Arts and Sciences is the most selective/competitive among all colleges within Cornell, even slightly more so than Engineering.

That would depend on the applicant’s gender for engineering. The male engineering admit rate is almost the same as both the M&F A&S admit rates but the female engineering admit rate is much higher than male. The significantly higher female admit rate makes the engineering admit rate look higher than A&S.

The 75th % math SAT score for engineering is 800 while it is perhaps 50 points lower for A&S, so there is more than one way to view this.

Payne–are you looking at the CS major within Eng and A&S?

I was planning on straight Electrical Engineering.
eventually fields and waves and wave propagation.
