How hard is it realy to get into UCF..?

I keep hearing from people that UCF pretty much accepts anyone...and that its pretty easy to get into..but yet i have several friends who have had really good GPAs around 3.5 and higher and good ACT scores and have gotten rejected...also i know of several other people who have gotten lower GPAs and lower test scores and have gotten in....? doesnt make too much sense...so how hard is it really to get into the university of central florida?

Nobody can really answer this questions for you. All you can do is apply and see if you get accepted. There is more to your application than your GPA and SAT/ACT scores… there are essays and other factors. The school looks at students as a whole, not just by score. If you a 3.9 GPA, great SAT score but no involvement and a crappy essay you probably wont get accepted. Compared to a person with a 3.5, average SAT score and tons of EC and volunteering and KNOWS what they want to do and get out of UCF… that person would be more likely to be accepted. UCF wants to see motivated students with interests in their field. People who know they want to be BLANK major, WHY and HOW they plan to accomplish thir goals. Its all ambition. Test scores only get you so far. Good Luck in applying and hopefully you have a well-rounded application.

If you live in Florida they pretty much want you to do two years at a state run community college and transfer over after you get your AA. They have a “direct connect” programs that guarantees admission to FL residents that completed their AA at one of the select community colleges in the area.

I think it has become much more difficult to get accepted as an incoming freshmen in the past few years. There are still plenty of them around campus though. If you are a good out of state high school student and are willing to pay full (out of state) tuition, then you probably have a better chance of getting accepted than somebody in state.

When I first came here at UCF I was a Engineering major, changed to Economics. Here’s what I heard, UCF is the best engineering school in the state–that’s a complete lie. Lockheed Martin places UF #1 in terms of where they recruit over Georgia Tech and UCF. Please guys, do not make the same mistake I made, I learned alot and overall, I hope I get into UF in the spring. It’s a no brainer to me now, before it was alot of crap I heard from different people. Don’t let an opportunity pass you by. I heard from a friend that he chose to come to UCF because he felt better about the people here (and he loves football)–then I found out he was not as hardworking as I once heard and is barely making it by here. So, guys if you are smart and motivated you want to be around smart people–not average. Sorry, but being a UCF student, I feel everyday I am limited and just hope I can get out and get a UF education–one I can afford and has a better name recognition. Because, believe it or not you might not go to Harvard–but the Gator Nation is strong and powerful beyond measure. Do not MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I MADE COMING TO UCF!

sbeckett20@gmai.com if you have any questions

I, personally, am doing okay at UCF. I was accepted to UF and UCF, but I chose UCF simply because it was close to home. My family is important to me, and leaving them alone in our current situation is a big NO NO.

Education is what you make of it. If you are motivated and hard working, you will do well and learn a lot. I am sure that if your ambitions are very high (Top Grad schools, Big-Name Companies out of college), then UF might give you a better edge than UCF. However, this does not disqualify UCF as being a good school. My personal goals are to be accepted into Pharmacy school, and I believe that with my top grades and other mandated requirements, I am very qualified and capable of entering a good Pharmacy school that will eventually make me a professional in the real world.
Be realistic with your goals. UF is a very good school, but don’t kick UCF entirely to the curb.

As for the OP, it is becoming harder and harder every year to get into UCF. The school is starting to raise its caliber of students, and that is a good thing. As others have said, the school is looking for bright students who have a desire to learn. If you think you fit under those descriptions, go ahead and apply. Best of luck. :D
