How hard is it to break into the business world with an engineering degree?

Is it possible to jump into finance or I-Banking with an engineering degree? I have heard in the past that it is easily done, but only in the context of ivy and ivy like schools. But is it possible to get on Wall Street with an engineering degree from a top 100 school?

Also I posted this in the career forum and got no responses so I posted it here.

Finance companies and banks always need people who are good with computers and math. I have a CS degree from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks and an MS in Industrial Engineering, and worked doing fixed-income analytics on Wall Street.

(Some people do call UAF the Ivy of central Alaska.)

any other wisdom?

Engineering is an analytical major which a lot of businesses respect and desire.
Going back for an MBA can help improve opportunities to move into management.

My friend is an mech. eng. with a minor in entrepreneurship. He received an internship offer from a company that wanted him to do business. Totally achievable mix.
