I’m an incoming freshman for Political Science. However as my high school graduation closes in, I realize studying political science isn’t something I’d like to do for my undergraduate degree. My second choice was civil engineering. How hard would it be to switch majors? I know I have to do well my first quarter. What should I tell my advisors during orientation?
Impacted Major – Changes of Major are accepted for the fall quarter only, and are subject to available space.
So you would have to wait one year before switching.
Here are the requirements:
3.0 CPP, Overall, and courses in CE core
Completion of MAT 114 with “C “or better.
Requests must be submitted to the department office by the 5th week of Spring Quarter.

You should contact the department to see how many students successfully switch majors to give yourself an idea if it is realistically possible even by meeting the requirements.
