How hard is it to get a full ride, or at least full tuition scholarship?

I was wondering if they had set cornerstones like 'Bama, 3.5 GPA and 1400/1600 SAT or 32 ACT nets you full tuition.

I've heard UCF gave some merit money, but I was wondering how hard it was to get some of that money.

Thanks

I don't know the criteria, but I know my S two years ago was given the same amount a NMF would get, eventhough he wasn't NMF. He had excellent SAT's (1410/1600), 32 ACT, and a 3.8-3.9 GPA -- forgot how much. I just checked my d's status page, and she's been offered the pegasus gold for instate students; we haven't received a letter, yet. I'm currently trying to find out how much that is. Anyway, her stats were 4.0 u.w., 35/36 ACT, 1440/1600 SAT, and about 10 AP's, having passed all so far with a 4 or 5.

Well, to point out the obvious, Florida Bright Futures will pay 100% tuition for all four years, if you have the required SAT score, GPA, and community service.

I am sure you knew that, but just in case you didn't here it is.

Zebes -
How long after the acceptance showed up did the Pegasus show up on my.ucf?

I'm OOS, so I can't use Bright Futures.

Thanks for the replies

mom2three-My d received her Pegasus Scholarship letter one week after her acceptance letter. I don't know when it showed up online.

hawaiiboy15 - Oh, sorry, I didn't realize you were OOS. Well, I know that you can receive $10,000 ($1250/semester), but that will not cover all tuition.

From what I know, UCF does not offer "full rides."

It's ok. I should have been more clear.

10k's not that much, but thanks though

Mom2three,

I'm not totally sure how long it took to show up, as I was out of town all week and just checked the site when I got back. She was accepted about two weeks ago, I think. She just received her honors invite in the mail, and we're waiting for the mail scholarship notification.

UCF offers very, very generous merit scholarships to National Merit Scholars, National Achievement Scholars, and National Hispanic Scholars. It covers all the cost of attendance expenses and then some.

My daughter received the National Hispanic Scholar, and combined with the 100% Bright Futures, we have not had to pay any out of pocket expenses yet. Her roommate who is from out of state received the National Merit Scholarship plus a free lap top!

I hope this information helps.

Florida Mom

For OOS, they have a different scholarship program than the Pegasus.

My best friend is from PA, and she's got a full ride right now here at UCF. I'll ask her the details for you.

My D is also a NMS and received a full ride, along with a laptop. Her freshman year she was also granted a Pegasus scholarship (she also has had her Bright Futures these 4 years). UCF has been great to us, I almost hate to see her graduate this coming spring!
