How hard is it to get a good GPA in the sciences?

I can't seem to find the gpa scales, but is an A+ different from an A-

for example...A+ is 4.0, but an A- is 3.7

plus, I know it differs from department to department, but is honors in the sciences far more challenging than just a regular curriculum? is a regular science curriculum usually much harder than other non-science CALS and L&S majors?

Scale is A 4.0, AB. 3.5, B 3.0, BC 2.5, C 2.0, D 1.0, F 0

What is an AB exactly? Like percentage wise?

Halfway between an A and a B. They started this in the early 70's, sure beats missing an A... Don't know what percentage goes with which grade, that would depend entirely on the professor's choice of grading. A course could have such a difficult test (such as some Honors Chemistry I took way back when) that one person got 89%, the next group of scores were in the high 60's or low 70's - all of whom got A's on that test. There are no all university or all dept standards, unlike many high schools.

Interesting, thanks much wis75
