How hard is it to get an A in pre-med classes?

Specifically, Bio and O.Chem. I know about Vandy's rumored grade deflation and lots of people are saying it's nearly impossible to maintain a 4.0 GPA for science classes -- as if getting straight A's are out of reach. Is this just because the professors are hard and that they tend to curve down? I read some student reviews for the Bio professors, and it seems like a choice between bad and worse. I know they're hard subjects no matter what, but I just need to know how much extra work I'm looking at to beat the deflation.

Tough question to answer. There are students who get A’s. Maybe 10-15% of the class gets an A? That’s not including A-. Also kind of a random guess. There is so much information covered in Orgo and Bio-- to have memorized 93%+ of it, and to do extremely well on free response/problem solving questions, and to do that consistently on every test is just not an easy feat.
