How hard is it to get into Binghamton?

Please rate how hard it is to get into Binghamton on a scale of 1 to 10. I think that it would be pretty tough because, they want to see the best grades in rigorous courses.

Would a 90 in Algebra II look stinky to them? I hear they like to see 93 and better. What about a 90 in AP stats, AP Euro, APUSH, AP Physics B, and all that other rigorous stuff.

Also, what SAT/ACT scores do I need? Do they look at it out of 2400 points. Would a 2200 be "good enough?" I plan on being involved in quite a bit of extra curricular activities.

So far I only have one grade, and it's only a 92 in a regents class (only my state and one other have them.) It was an honors course, what would my GPA be? I'm worried that it isn't good enough...

For people on this website, I would say it’s a 1 - pretty easy. You look like you’re pretty set, might want to check out some other schools as well.

No it is not a 1, it is probably a 4-6. You need at least a low 1300 SAT (CR/M) and ~92-93+GPA to be competitive. Students with 1200+ SATs and lower GPA do get in but not nearly as much.

It’s a school where stats alone can pretty much guarantee you acceptance, given everything else is at least o.k, you should most likely get in with that SAT.

EC’s and essays dont carry that much weight.

ECs are as important as class rank, the essay and recommendations. <a href=“Office of Institutional Research - Office of Institutional Research | Binghamton University”>Office of Institutional Research - Office of Institutional Research | Binghamton University; Only 40% of applicants make it in. 60% of admits have >3.75 GPA and the 1300 SAT is probably a good cutoff (just north of the 25%ile).

In state or out of state? Huge difference

Major plays a big factor at Binghamton.

Business and Nursing programs are likely the most competitive.

I wasn’t planning on getting a 90 in trig BTW, but I was wondering :P. I don’t even understand percentiles, I talk out of 2400 points, I don’t tolerate under 2200 for that, but I have standards…

@Rodney- This is in state…

@Crazed- I want to major in physics.

It’s going to be tough for you to score 2200 if you don’t understand percentiles. Look at the Common Data Set link, section C9. Try for the #s in the 75%ile column. You also need a high GPA. Look at section C11.

@Erin’s dad- I’m 13, I don’t even know what a percentile is. I’m not even ready to take an SAT/ACT yet.

Then why are you posting this thread? Think about this in 2-3 years…

Perhaps high school freshman are interested in colleges :).

Also, I don’t think that waiting until your junior/senior year to think about picking what college you want is the best idea.
