only people with priority enrollment are enrolling in classes now, but some seem to fill up pretty quick. how hard has it usually been for you? those of us going to first orientation are probably okay, but i cant imagine anything left for the later orientations. also, they keep doing stupid things like cancelling classes and making engcomp 3 from 20 person classes to 10. there just doesnt seem to be a whole lot available next quarter for thousands of undergrads.

they increase the limit for eng comp 3 as the orientations progress. it is a 20 person class, but they artificially limit it to give later orientation attendees more of a chance to get it, since they know a lot of people need eng comp 3. i had priority enrollment from my cluster, so it wasnt too hard to get the classes i wanted. hardest to get were eng comp 3 and my cluster seminar.

i hope i can get what i want next week. =

what are you looking to get next week?

and how was your cluster seminar hard to get? isn't it all predetermined for the entire year, or do you reselect in the spring?

the seminars are like discussions. theres only 20 people in each, so the popular ones full up fast. you are guaranteed a place in a seminar, but not necessarily the one you want.

im looking to enroll in LS2, chem 30a, physics 6a, and stats 10.

check the class availability on www.registrar.ucla.edu/schedule the day before you go to orientation. class availability is subject to change. take this advice cuz i wasnt prepared at orientation and had to scramble to find backup classes

if you're going to an early orientation, you'll be okay, although you might not get your first choice. if you're going to later orientations, you'll get classes, but most likely GE's that weren't your first choices. after that though, priority for getting classes is determined by your class standing (senior>junior>soph>freshman) - AP/IB units add to your class standing. for the most part, i've gotten the classes that i've wanted and have been satisfied with my schedule for most quarters.

cluster seminars are selected in spring quarter enrollment. dont think too far. you might not even enjoy your cluster to stick around for the second quarter.

thanks.. as a poli sci major, did you find it particularly hard to get into classes? i'm looking at the lower div (and even upper) poli sci right now, and some things are already filled up!

im taking chem 20A, CS 31, Eng Comp 3 and calc 32A first quarter. Do these classes usually fill up pretty fast that I have to have back up classes? I'm going to the first session so I should be okay in getting these classes right?

ras are you an engineer?

this is going to suck major ass

Yeah I'm going as an Electrical Engineer.
