How hard is it to get into College of Charleston?

I’m from New England but go to a prestigious prep school. I had a D on my junior year transcript and two C’s and I’m going to CofC. Mind you, my test score were nothing higher than average. I guess it’s not that hard.

On the other hand, there is a student over on the Univ of South Carolina forum who attended a private school in CT and was turned down at CofC although he was accepted (and now attends) Univ of South Carolina.

if im a out of state student with a 3.0 and a act score of a 28 with a good background etc. would my chances of getting into cofc be good?

Realtime, I loved your post. I am trying to send my son, we are waiting on a decision. I am a graduate of Miami of Ohio and my son also applied there, JMU, Clemson, and Saint Joseph’s. My parents live in SC and I would love for him to be in the south.

Zachstin, a little more information would be helpful  do you take any ap honors or ib? good high school?

I got in out of state with a 27 ACT, 3.0 gpa, but all my classes are IB. A friend of mine got in with a much worse ACT/SAT, and the same gpa. I think you have a pretty decent shot :)

So excited!

Just visited CofC and it was very nice.

I’m a male junior who goes to a competitive public school in NY with a weighted GPA of 3.31. I have no APs just honors spanish but will be taking APs in 12th grade. My first SAT I took I got a 1730 or an 1170 out of 1600. I am yet to take the ACT. I only have a few JV sports from 9th and 10th grade and I am on the debate team and the SWATT. I know my ECs are bad and my GPA is nothing special. I will be getting a job this summer. Hoping to get my SATs up. I also want to go to law school almost definitly, is CofC a good undergrad for law?

What are my chances?

Anyone know anything about the College of Art at CofC? My daughter is interested?

EA definitely helps

Collegeready-so hard to predict these things. You certainly are in the ballpark.

definitely yes

out of state helps

probably not, but very nice Hillel there. Contact them and start a conversation.

You can analyze the common data set as well as anyone. Your ACTs are right on the mark . Your GPA is a little low. Start communicating with your adcom, write a great essay and make clear to them you would enroll if admitted. There is no magic here. You can just work at improving the odds.

I have a 24 on act. 3.892 weighted gpa. 3.120 unweighted gpa. And i’m ranked 54th out of 202 students. How likely is it that i’ll get into college of charleston?

Hello all!
I am currently a high school senior and will be graduating this spring. I am highly interested in the College of Charleston. I’m wondering how good you think my chances of acceptance i s to this college. My current GPA is a 3.2 unweighted and 3.5 weighted. My ACT score is a 22, but I am taking it once more later this month (october 27th) so there is a small chance it will go up. I also have over 200 hours of community service and I take all honors courses. I have taken four years of spanish as well an been out of the country on service explorations with my school, hopefully this will strengthen my resume. What do you think? I would love to hear your responses!
Thanks!

Son applied EA Honors school. From new england. Got in and LOVING it! Living in honors dorm. GPA 3.7 unweighted, 1970/2400 Sats, took a couple of AP’s.
To apply for honors, needed to write an essay, they don’t use common app for some reason. I think the school is easy to get into, and if you have a bright student, def. push them to apply for honors. They are looking for smart boys.

Son has 3.2 uw GPA, 2100 SAT, 7 APs and a college course taken this semester. Should he expect Honors College admission? He is OOS so merit aid is a must to make this work. Are they typically generous?

Sent from my SCH-I510 using CC

He will def. get in to regular college, and high probability into honors college. He has to write an extra essay. I think with SAT over 2000, you will get some aide.

I have a 3.1 GPA with two AP courses, and below average SAT scores. I have an outstanding essay and many extra curricular activities. I know the SAT scores are a problem, but I feel this does not represent who I am as a student. Does anyone have any ideas on what type of chance someone from out of state applying regular decision would have at gettting accepted?

Thanks!

I have found that the college board statistics on GPA, SAT, and ACT scores invaluable.
Here is the link for CofC:

<a href=“BigFuture College Search”>https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/college-university-search/college-of-charleston?q=College%2Bof%2BCharleston&tp=bf&searchType=site_qfs&bf_cat=college

as you see they accepted 41% with reading and math scores 500-599. They do not look at writing scores.

Once click on above link, click on applying section for gpa and sat stats

Hope that helps, college board has all the stats for every school.
