How hard is it to get into Georgia Tech

What is the minimum GPA and SAT for Georgia Tech?

My dad went to Georgia and earned his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering.

Would that help for my application?

Thank you guys :)

It's not that hard actually.

There's no min GPA and SAT; but to be slightly competitive, maybe something along the lines of GPA > 3.5 and SAT >1250?
It's all relative.

do they count with writing portion for the SAT?

why would the fact that your dad went to Georgia make it easier for you to get in to Georgia Tech? it might help if he went to Georgia Tech but not Georgia.

Oops

I mispelled the word.

He went to Georgia Tech for Ph.D and master for Virginia Tech.

Gtech isn't that hard to get into considering how great a school it is, but I am by no means saying it is easy.

relatively easy to get in, extremely difficult to get out with a solid gpa.

o yeah, and there are no girls. i loved the campus, loved the city, loved the atmosphere, but it doesnt seem like it is fun.

They ask for the writing portion of the SAT/ACT, but they do not use it for admissions.

^^^^like most schools.

ExplorerCY I felt the same way. I love the academic side of the school, but that was about it.

I know this seems probably stupid, but what do you mean by there are no girls?

How sure are you when you say that they don’t use SAT writing?

I’ll make the claim that they do use SAT writing in Adm. decisions. :-)

The freshman class is 38% women or so. I heard that the PS freshmen cohort was over 60% women.

I am currently a student at Tech in the Biomedical Eng Dept and Math Dept. IN BME the ratio is 4 girls for every 7 guys… in math it is 2 girls for every 15 boys.

That is what was meant, the school ratio is 1 to 7 :(
The odds are good but the goods are odd!

People that have no chance at Tech, generally don’t bother applying (that’s what UGA is for!). That’s why the acceptance rate is in the 40s. But the avg GPA/SAT this year was 3.9/2100, so it’s no cake walk.
