Hey, I am looking to apply to NYU (Arts & sciences) as a spring transfer for 07' from Union College in upstate NY. I have good extracurriculars in college, my SAT was 1430 (v:800 m:630) and I finished my freshman year with a 3.9 GPA from an academically demanding school.

Operating on the logic that NYU is a huge school in a huge city and therefore would likely have a high drop-out/flunk-out rate, it seems there would be a fair amount of openings each year. Is this true? Or rather, how diffiecult is it to transfer to NYU? and (of course i must ask) do I have a shot?

Thanks alot for any help you could provide me with,
Nat

transfer acceptance rate is slightly higher than freshmen admissions (except stern and tisch) so you're basically a shoe in, unless you have no EC's or something.

Hi Matt.
.........

thanks. how good are the academics at nyu. what is the reputation like?clearly it has good name recognition, but beyond that.... and what are its shortcomings socially and academically?

The quality of academics at NYU varies between certain subjects. For instance, NYU has an incredible mathematics department. Socially, there are problems for certain types of people. If you want a bubble in such an urban city, then you may want to look elsewhere, since NYU is practically interwoven with the city.

How are the programs in history, political science etc?

what do you mean except for Stern and Tisch? i’m looking to get into Tisch myself
