I was just admitted to Umich and am excited, but worried.

I am interested in business, but how hard is to get into Ross (as a umich student, not as a guaranteed admit)? What do they take into account? Only college grades? High school grades? ACT/SAT?

Also, what kind of GPA/scores are generally required?

I have heard that it is cut throat - but at the same time i know kids who got in with a 3.0 from LSA with nothing special going for them. I think it depends heavily on the essays.

well you also have to look at if a kid is coming from LSA, Honors, Engineering, Etc - So it’ll depend.

I think my chances are slim to none - i transfered to Umich from WMich’s B-school. I have a 3.8 and tons of Ec’s including volunteering, frats, internships and i run 2 businesses (that i started) over the summer, etc… but i think it is too cut throat, and the fact i am a soph. meaning i will have to take an extra year - idk how ross looks into that, if they respect the decision or not…

She was in LSA, not really strong in Calc and Econ classes (got Cs and Bs in those classes), but eventually managed to get in. So anything can still happen, work hard on your essays.

I’m curious to see if the number of applicants for the current freshman class will drop because of the weak state of all the financial companies (though I think they’ll probably rebound within the next four to five years).

I’m really nervous about attending UMich if I don’t get into the pre-admit business program. I really love UMich because it has everything that I want in a college experience but I’m torn between UMich, BC, and NYU Stern because of the pre-admit thing.

This is my reasoning : UMich is cheaper than BC but I haven’t been guaranteed a spot in Ross yet. NYU Stern is a bit too close to home and I don’t like the campus but it’s an excellent business school. BC has a beautiful campus, good business program, but the diversity is lacking.

harmonykiss, I am in the same shoes. GAHHHHH!!! I really want to go to Michigan, but if I don’t get into Ross, there’s no meaning for me, because I really need the business program. Should I just go to BC?

Same here, Karen!! It’s SUCH a tough decision.
If I am pre-admitted to Ross, I would go to UMich in a heartbeat but I’m scared of the risk associated with just going to UMich and not having a guaranteed spot. That’s the only reason I am probably choosing BC over UMich :(
