It woudl help if you could post what you've heard, or stats of people who have been accepted or rejected.

Not dificult at all according to them. Look at their website it will give you all the database you need

Oh, where did you find the information? I could only find info on the school of jounralism, not the honors program...

I went to visit a couple of weeks ago, and I was told by the admissions director at the school of journalism, that getting in is not difficult, but once you got into the program then they let you know if you qualify for the honors program.I was very impressed with the school, but not with IU as a whole. that is why I decided not to go there. However, the Journalism program looks really amazing. I spoke to somebody named Ruth, who is in charge of most of the internships, etc, and she is by far the most knowledgable person there. The only thing is that if you get in the honors, then classes will be harder but internships will be in more abundance though.
good luck

Thank You, does anyone know stats for people who go into the honors program

Hey, I'm an incoming Freshman and I got into the Ernie Pyle Scholars this year. From what I can tell, it's mostly based around your essays and previous high school experience. The application asked about your journalistic activities in high school, your grades, and what other activities you've participated in. Most of it was centered around the three essays you were required to complete. I can give you a quick snapshot of my stats:

3.71 GPA
extra curricular activities (journalism stuff, sports, theater)
honors society

so, just all the normal stuff you would include in an app. Ultimately, if you can write well, and have some decent grades and test scores, you should get in. I mean, it's just my opinion, but I personally think that everything revolves around the essays. They're looking for intellectual writing with style and structure. I'd be happy to try and answer any other questions.
