How hard is it to get into UCF?

Last time I checked the average GPA is 4.06… my GPA is around 3.5 and I’m gonna try my best to make my grades as high as possible for my senior year. Also will try to get as high as possible on the SAT.

Will writing the personal essay help? Will recommendation letters also help or are both just a waste of time? My extracurriculars are growing so I think that field is fine.

Been in contact with the university for quite a bit and it is definitely one of if not my dream university. Should I even bother applying or is it no use?

If UCF is close to your top choice, you should DEFINITELY apply. 3.5 GPA is excellent. UCF GPA average is 4.06, but the range is 2.7-5.0. Let them know, through your essays, how committed you are their program. Do some basic research on the college and show true interest.

Focus on doing well on the SAT. The SAT and your essays should be where your efforts are right now.

Good luck!

@EudaimoniaVibes Make sure you apply early! Typically the application is up by the end of July. There was a question for the essay that asked why UCF? Make sure you write an essay and have someone read over it. Try to get over 1200 on the SAT.

If I remember correctly, there wasn’t a whole lot of space for listing ECs. Have a list of the ones you dedicated a lot of time to or held positions in. My D18 had over 300 hours of community service- she didn’t bother to list it all- I think there was a character limit. She listed her Presidential Gold Service award and maybe 3 other community service activities that she committed time to. Then she listed 2-3 school related activities she participated in.

I would have a list typed out of ECs and your Essay typed before you apply. They suggest you cut and paste into the online application.

Good Luck!
