Would I be better off applying to UIUC and declare my major in engineering(computer science) or Liberal Arts and Sciences(Computer Science)? How much easier is the latter to get into? I have a 3.6GPA with 44 hours. Should I apply into the latter, and then do an internal transfer once I am there? I have the prereqs for both already done.

With that GPA I would play it safe and go with LAS. But I do know that with UIUC they generally place you in a different field if you don’t qualify for one field but have the suitable grade for another.

Also it’s impossible to get into the college of business if you’ve been admitted to another college first (say if you applied to LAS and then wanted to transfer to the Business college a semester later) they don’t allow business transfers in that aspect. BUT IF YOU WANTED to apply to the college of business I would recommend a higher gpa. From all the info sessions I’ve attended, blogs read, and students I’ve talked to, the college of business is the most competitive college to get into for transfers (and even freshman).

I am glad I am not going into Mccombs then…do you have any stats for Cockrell?
