how hard is it to get into UMich being an OOS and/or International student?

Well, I am international applicant and I never thought I’d get accepted in UoMichigan. I applied anyway and got accepted in Feb. I might go. Right now, it all depends if I get the Phelps scholarship which will help out. Otherwise, I’d be going to Uni of Toronto.

SAT 2000 (R610, W670, M740)
SAT II Math I (780)
GPA 3.8(UW), Lots of EC top 10% of class.
Nothing spectacular. But I think I got in because of my essay - I wrote about my life experience which is not your normal teenage life. I had to get over a few adversities. I am also a 93’ applicant. Not sure if it made a difference.
Additionally, I had a recommendation from a mentor who quite reputable in the research field in Canada.

Who knows? I got in and if all my stars line up for me, I will go to Michigan. THis is what hope and dreams are made of.

For OOS and International students, here’s how I would break it down:

3.9+ unweighed GPA AND 2250+ SAT / 34+ ACT = Safe match
3.8-3.9 GPA AND 2100-2200 SAT/ 31-33 ACT = Match
3.6-3.7 GPA AND 1950-2090 SAT / 28-30 ACT = slight reach
Sub 3.6 unweighed GPA AND sub 1950 SAT / Sub 29 ACT = reach
