how hard is it to get into Yale as a fine art major undergraduate?

how hard is it to get into Yale as art major undergraduate?

Also, do they look at portfolio more than grades?

I am planning to major in fine art. Thanks in advance.

Your choice of major has little bearing on admissions at Yale. Students are admitted to the college as a whole, not to a particular major. For Art, unlike most majors at Yale, you must apply to be accepted into the program at the end of your sophomore year:

The prerequisites for acceptance into the major are a sophomore review, which is an evaluation of work from studio courses taken at the Yale School of Art, and five terms of introductory (100-level) courses.

not to toot my own horn, but if they accepted students by major, i definitely would have gotten into fine arts (if they had such a program)

but alas, everyone, regardless of major, has to apply to Yale College
