UC schools out of state? I have a 2310 SAT and strong EC's. Would Berkeley/UCLA be hard for a Jerseyan? Comparable to ivy leagues? I've heard it's pretty selective and a huge % of their admits come from cali. Also, I've heard out of state for UC's is also very expensive. How mcuh are we talking here?

Thanks

You see, the UCs have this rule - OOS students must make up less than 5% of the student body. Because so many OOS people want to go to UC schools, but so few slots are available, it's extremely competitive. You have a chance, but there are no guarantees.

A girl from my school in Missouri got into Berkeley. I'm not sure about SAT scores, but she was caucasin, low-income, IB diploma candidate, ok ECs, she was a good English student--so her essays were most likely awesome, and she had great recs.

I live in New York and students from my school have been accepted to Berkeley and UCLA with considerably lower SAT scores, so you definitely have a good chance. In terms of cost, out of state tuitions are usually much higher than in state tuitions and are only slightly lower than private school tuitions.
