Will one or 2 Cs on Mid-terms cause a Columbia acceptance to be rescinded?

One won't. Two might.

no that's just silly, if you fail two classes then we might be talking, getting Cs on mid-terms is inconsequential. No-one's getting any offer rescinded unless you really f-up.

*** are you guys smoking. An C's and you'll probably be rescinded....

They won't see your midterm grades anyway, just your final year grades.

No. First of all, they don't even see mid-term grades. Second of all, a C is average performance. Not good, but not terrible. Even if you got two Cs on your final grade report your admission probably won't be rescinded.

well if you got in early decision then yes they do see your midterm grades...

Oh, I thought he meant mid-year.

and where do you gets get this? Getting a "C" for any Ivy is pretty bad...

How about you just don't get any C's? :P

no getting a few Cs in your final year at high school has no real disadvantage, it's understood to be time of relaxation and self-fulfillment.

lecygne, do they really? Most schools only see final reports with year-end grades...

Yup, read!

well i can't speak for regular decision applicants but I know that EDers are required to send in a midyear report which just simply states the courses you are taking and the semester grade you received in each...

confidentialcoll, where do you get that information?

Did you get 2 C's? If not, you should not be talking about. I know someone who got rescinded from Stanford for a B- and a C+. and Stanford is WAY more lenient than Ivies.

^ I have a friend at columbia who failed/got a D in a class in senior year of high school and is here now, no biggie. perhaps your friend was rescinded for different reasons like discipline?

1) you really like contradicting those with more experience, don't you?

2) your post is anecdotal and full of hyperbole.

I hope when you get to college you go thru some big personality change, for your sake.

If you don't like people question your statements, then maybe you should go to another forum.

I don't get it. Maybe you both should explain where you obtain your information.

btw skraylor, experience doesn't mean anything. If all you have are anecdotes too.

Fair enough but I would still weight confidential's anecdotes heavier than Cali101's if only because I know con doesn't say things like "OMG How can u be so stupid?!? Stanford is SO OMEGA LAXER than teh IVIES!!!" This is a completely baseless claim and this kid has NO idea what he's talking about.

The fact that this guy has shown up in multiple threads on this board doing the exact same thing on different topics doesn't make me warm to him.

I have no problem with discussion. You, however, do not discuss. Instead of coming up with some proof to back up your statements or finding legitimate holes in someone else's statements you come up with nonsensical assertions of your own.

Like I said, if you didn't do it in every post, I wouldn't have a problem with your posts.

Is it easy to get rescinded for having fault material in your app? Just wondering.
