How hard is it to switch from CAS to engineering while in college?

Hi.

I'm not really sure where to post this. :/

I'm currently a junior in high school starting my college search, and I am very undecided about what to major in. Right now, I am thinking either economics, math, chemistry, or engineering. Schools that I am thinking about include Northwestern, JHU, Duke, Georgetown, UChicago, UMich, etc. Some schools I am thinking about don't even offer engineering.

For the schools that do offer engineering, how difficult is it to switch from CAS (arts and sciences; sometimes called something else depending on the school) to engineering?

For the schools that don't offer engineering, is it possible to do undergrad in something else and then do engineering in grad school? If I do something else in undergrad does it have to be a science (i.e. physics, chemistry)?

Thanks :)

It depends on the school and probably which major you are switching into.

Sometimes. It is best to have an undergraduate major that is the same as your graduate engineering major. If not, the more closely related your undergraduate major is to your graduate engineering major, the better.
