How hard is it to switch to a Computer Science major at UC San Diego?

I recently was admitted as undeclared despite applying for computer science. Is it worth a shot or is it too much of a gamble?

Exact same thing with me. Should I go to UCSB for CS or take my shot at transferring from undeclared in SD?

Here is a link of how to change majors:

Personally and as a Mom of a CS major (not at UCSD), I would consider going to the school with the direct admit into CS which would be UCSB. Both are great schools, but you would need a Plan B if you cannot switch into CS at UCSD.

This link explains everything you need to know. Also, I would recommend going to a school in which you are admitted for CS as there is no guarantee that you will be able to get a spot in CS at UCSD, so it can take you more than 4 years to graduate

@Dhruv97 it doesn’t explain how hard it actually is to transfer in?

@jlev96‌ It’s not “hard”. You take the required courses and then apply for spot.

@dhruv97 I understand that. My question is like what are the odds getting a spot.

I mentioned above tha there is no guarantee. If you have a high GPA and make A’s in all your required courses, you’d have a good chance. But nothing is 100%

From the above link:

No one knows how likely it will be for you to be accepted into the computer science major.

I would see it as too much of a gamble. S would not attend if they applied for CS and were admitted undeclared.
