Hi. I applied as a bio major, but then I m leaning towards Engineering...
Would that be easy if i decide to do that in the beginning of my freshman year?

anyone? pls???

It usually takes more than one hour for replies, but no, it will be hard.

Most proposed switches of major are easy, but unfortunately not yours. Otherwise, because of the differing admissions standards, nobody would ever apply directly to the CoE; every aspiring engineering student would just apply to L&S and then switch to engineering the moment they matriculated.

I’d try to do some things to better your chances – for instance, get A’s in your classes in your first year. Maybe take an engineering class or two. While it’s not the easiest thing to switch, the unique thing is that you have access to much of Berkeley’s courses as you prepare to apply! And COE probably would be impressed with high results in their own courses.

it’s difficult to transfer from letters and science to CoE. far easier to transfer from CoE to L&S. It’s largely because CoE is so competitive and can therefore afford to be much more selective.

Yes, it is difficult, but I know many people who’ve done it. It’s very doable.

Every single one of my friends who applied for a transfer got it :S
So who knows how hard it is. But you gotta really want it… and have legit reasons etc. Like I took this course and it changed my life sorta thing. So it’s not gonna be too difficult.

2 transferred into CoE, 1 transferred into CoC, 2 transferred out of CoE, 1 transferred out of CnR, 1 transferred into CnR[but wants back into L&S? o_O]

The ones who transferred into/out of CoE didn’t have that great of GPAs either :S So you should be fine. Just apply ^_~
