How Hard Is It to Transfer In?

UT - Austin was one of my final choices for a university. I ended up going with Missouri, because their journalism program is supposed to be the best, or second best in the nation. Back when deciding, I naively ignored the advice of my mom, to keep in mind the second major I was looking at (Radio-TV-Film). I'm not liking Journalism that much, and really want to get back in the RTF game, and maybe get a double major in Russian (depending on if the credits transfer to make it possible).

Obviously I would apply for the Communications, because that's where my first choice major is. How do the dual majors work at Texas? Here are Mizzou, you can pretty much just start taking anything (minus J-School), and then just go down that route if you want to major in something. I believe Texas is different.

I had a 4.0 GPA first semester.

If my grades this semester stay as they are for this semester, I'll have a 3.9118 GPA.

I plan on transferring after sophomore year. I don't think it will be hard maintain that GPA, because outside of the Journalism school, the courses seem really, really easy at Mizzou.

Do I have anything to worry about in transferring into the Communications College, or should it be pretty easy sailing as long as I maintain my GPA?

Where do your parents live?

If its Texas, stay above 3.8 and your golden

My parents live in Wisconsin.

I got into Texas out of high school with approximately 3.86 UW and 29 ACT, with non-resident tuition waiver plus a scholarship on top of that.

I think I've improved my attractiveness as a student since then with my college success.

I know Texas has the reputation of being hard as hell to get into for OOS students, but it seems most of those OOS people are talking about science related subjects, engineering, and business.

Hopefully I can get in again. It'll be a bit more expensive, but it will be well worth it. Texas is a good university, and Austin is a nice city, and their RTF program is one of the best in the country.
