How hard is it to transfer into Caltech, MIT, Stanford?

How hard is it to transfer into Caltech, MIT, Stanford? Which one is hardest and which is easiest? Is transferring into them harder than getting in as a freshman? Do you have any basic stats on the transfer applicants gpa, SAT, etc...

All three are incredibly competitive for transfer admissions. Here are the common data sets that popped up on Google:

Stanford: http://www.stanford.edu/home/statistics/#transfer

Caltech (scroll to page 13): http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:ppd_SkBdf_QJ:finance.caltech.edu/budget/cds2002.pdf+common+data+set+caltech&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=1

MIT:
http://web.mit.edu/ir/cds/2006/d.html

Based on those numbers, I'd say that Stanford is a little easier than the other two to transfer into. Since they don't have transfer applicant/admissions profiles like for freshman, there's no way to judge the competitiveness of transfer admission. Strictly by percentages, it's much more difficult to transfer than to be admitted as a freshman, but percentages don't necessarily tell the whole story.

"Strictly by percentages, it's much more difficult to transfer than to be admitted as a freshman, but percentages don't necessarily tell the whole story."

Well then does anyone here on CC knows if it is actually harder to transfer than freshman admission, or vica versa??

Here's an example. Notre Dame accepts about 30% of freshman applicants but only 25% of its prospective transfers. However, the applicant pool is obviously not as strong for transfers b/c many of those were rejected the first time around. Conclusion: You will be better off as a transfer b/c you will be competing with kids on your level, rather than a bunch of 1600s.

Don't even bother with Caltech and MIT. It's not worth it. Caltech also requires you to take exams which makes the process even more time-conuming and cumbersome. Also I don't care what this data set says, everybody knows that MIT took 6 students last year.
You have better chances at H and S. Even Y.
