My friend would like to know about this so i'm going to post for him. Do they look at your HS transcript or freshmen year of college? Do they have to look at your SAT scores? what happens if they are low like where it's no where near the 50% admitted range? Does this mean there's no way for you to transfer to Columbia? or students can retake their SATs or ACT during freshmen year during college and send the new scores if it's any better? Do they ask your ECs during your HS years or just the the freshmen year of college? He also wants to know if Columbia engineering is cutthroat?

Basically, what does Columbia expect from transfer students?

? anyone id really like to transfer here

Bump. Even I’d like to have some views about this
Hey! my friend transferred from Columbia College to Columbia Engineering his sophomore year and it was quite easy. He had to fill out a full application but he knew he was in by April. He studies chemistry and because he had already taken Lit Hum his freshman year, he was fulfilling requirements. Overall, the whole things was very smooth.
If you’re talking about transferring from a separate university into Columbia Engineering then yes, that’s pretty tough. I had a kid in my University Writing class at Columbia who had transferred from RIT and he was absolutely brilliant. Work hard, study hard, write killer essays, know that you really want to go to Columbia (I’ve seen so many kids destroyed in that program, it’s not a happy-go-lucky in any way, it’s scary competitive). Good luck to your friend!
I know one person who transferred to columbia engineering. From Top 20 U.S News ranked school. Pulled 4.0 GPA during his freshman year.
