Are there statistics somewhere?

no statistics that i could find, sorry.

but as i’ve written on here quite a few times. even though columbia says that it is approximately as competitive in terms of statistics (we can assume it is about a 10% admit rate), that transfers are a very self-selecting pool. many don’t like their current school, never really became involved, etc. this in the end means many applicants have taken themselves out of the running even before they submit their application.

which actually works in the favor of students that a) did really well at their school, b) formed a close relationship with a prof, c) can put together a thoughtful answer as to why they want to transfer.
