So I’ve been admitted to Physics in UCSD for fall 2018, which is my second major choice, my first major choice was Computer Engineering.
So I was wondering how hard it is to transfer, and how?
Did anyone have a similar situation?
Here is what you need to know about changing majors and remember even if you complete all the requirements, there is no guarantee there will be spots available to transfer into:
I went to their reception, and they say that all the capped majors go into a screening, and students get chosen based off of their GPA. Computer Science is different than the other majors because it is based on a lottery system instead of how high your GPA is, I believe.
@xLolipop were you accepted to any other UC schools for CE? If so, go there instead. I was in that boat with CS 2 years ago, and I am so glad I chose another school. Switching to anything CSE related is hell from what I heard and read. I have several friends in CSE @ UCSD, and they all say that it’s nearly impossible to get the classes you need (2 of them are in CE).
As far as I can tell, the programs at most UC schools do not differ much (we compared CS @ UCR, UCI and UCSD), but at less impacted schools (UCI, UCR, UCD and UCSB) the stress is waaaaay lower, and you are almost guaranteed to get out in 2 years (if you are a transfer).
